Happy Valentines Day!

Holy cow time flies when you have a baby to occupy ALL your time! I can't believe my last post was in November and now it's Valentines. The last 3 months have been a whirlwind. Little Owen arrived safe and sound the day after Thanksgiving. I've taken pictures of him but for some reason they've never made it into editing.

We did a Christmas card. I know....a little late for posting but I still want to share it.

Silly Kids

This was my last session til this baby comes...I'm exhausted, but have definitely enjoyed all the holiday sessions!

These kids have SO much personality! They had me laughing with all their silly faces and smiles. But one thing is for sure, they LOVE their little sister! She's got 3 protectors and with that cute face, she's going to need their help to keep all the boys away.

We spent the evening on their grandparents' farm, which is such a neat place to take pictures. I especially love the picture of all of them on their grandpa's favorite tractor.

I always love the atmosphere of large family shoots. There always is lots of joking, light-hearted teasing, and you can easily feel the love everyone has for each other. This family was no exception! I could tell they have a good time when they get together, which makes the shoot so much more fun!

Can two sisters be any cuter? I met this sweet family about a year ago to do a maternity session. Taylor captured the camera with her sweet smile and now little Teagan can melt your heart with those big brown eyes. Together, those girls could probably get whatever they want! Watch out mom and dad!

I have wanted to do this shot for several months but the weather has been too hot for me to want to venture out. On Monday, the perfect opportunity arose when Avery's preschool was cancelled that morning. I quickly got her dressed up and by 9:30 we were out the door.

I knew I had waited too long to get her ready and that the lighting wouldn't be ideal, but I didn't want to turn back now. And sometimes with photography, you just get lucky. And that's what happened. I snapped about 20 shots while Mia screamed behind me because she wanted to be in the picture too. There were hardly any spots in the shade with a proper angle of the temple. I hoped that maybe one would turn out...and viola! a perfect pose by my little model.

I'm in LOVE with this picture!!!!!! I can't wait to do this with Carter when he turns 8 this summer. These pictures will be on canvases in each of their rooms. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

All You Need Is Love

Today was a rough day for me. No particular reason why...just feelings of insecurity, self-doubt, and inadequacy. Have you ever felt that way? I know that these feelings come along every once in a while and really tend to make the day a big downer.

So instead of moping around, I took my 3 children in my arms and we tickled, hugged, and played on my bed. There is something so magical being around people that love you unconditionally...even when you are far from perfect. Immediately, all those horrible feelings went away. I feel so blessed having such a wonderful family, husband, and 3 beautiful children. And they are all I need to help me always feel special.

She's SO big!

At least she thinks she is. She knows where make-up goes on her face, knows how to wear jewelry, and knows how to walk in my heels better than I do. I find almost all of my shoes in her room. She wears them while playing quietly, while chasing her brother and sister, and while admiring herself in the mirror. She melts my heart and so do those chubby legs. If only they could stay little forever.

Sweet Harper

Having been consumed with the joys and pains of pregnancy for the last 8 months, I could feel the excitement of having a little one again after spending the morning with Harper. Tom Brokaw 9/11 Tribute

I received a phone call from my brother yesterday morning saying he was watching a Tom Brokaw 9/11 Tribute and that he saw a family photo I had taken on the show. It turns out that the husband of the family I took pictures for had been in NY during the attacks and was interviewed on this segment. As he talked about his children, it showed the family picture I had taken. It was televised nationwide on NBC Sunday morning. It was a great program and seeing a familiar face and my family picture definitely added to the enjoyment of the program.

Halloween Freebie!

Most of you already know that Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday! When September rolls around, I get gitty for all the Halloween decorations that start popping up in stores. I also start to feel my crafting bug come alive! And that's where the freebie comes in.

Some girlfriends and I started a crafting group and for Halloween I created a fun little piece of subway art to adorn our walls or shelves. I wanted to share the file with anyone that wanted to do something fun, and inexpensive, in their Halloween decorating. We are going to print this off and mod podge it onto a wood board. The art is sized to fit an 11x14 print.

Messy Hair and Pajamas

I need to apologize for the neglect my photo blog has received these last few months. With it being miserably hot and me being largely pregnant, sitting down to update photos hasn't been my number one priority. At some point I will update with the summer sessions I had....but not right now. :)

These were some fun pictures of my little Mia at 17 months. We were playing upstairs the other day and it was a good time to capture some shots of her in a more "natural" setting...meaning messed up hair and in her pajamas. It seems that's what she looks like most of the time anyways.

She is just so sweet and funny. I love this little girl!

Isn't summer the best?! I LOVE summer. It's so much fun having my kids home and spending time together with no schedules. And now that it's getting warmer, most days are spent in the pool...HEAVEN!

And now that I'm in a blissful state, I'm feeling like offering a great summer session deal! I've had several requests for a mini session for kids. Which I totally understand. You don't necessarily want a full session but rather some great shots of your kids to document their growth. I feel like that's what I'm always doing with my own kids. I never spend more than 10 minutes taking their pictures, mostly because they won't last longer than 10 minutes! But then I pick the 3-4 images that I really like, edit them, print them, and hang them up.

Time Flies When You're....Busy!!

I can't believe it has been so long since I've put anything up! Life got a little too crazy all at once, which meant I needed to slow down and focus on me and my family. We bought a house and moved, got pregnant again and have been sick, kids pulling me in every which way, etc, etc, etc. Changes can always be great, but it usually takes me awhile to adjust...and that's exactly what happened these last few months.

I appreciate all of you that have been patient with me and my lack of availability but now I'm re-focused and ready to dive back into pictures! I have to admit I really haven't taken any pictures of my own family during my hiatus. However, we did take a wonderful vacation to Mexico in May and I actually dusted off the camera and used it. So this is what I have to share...Enjoy!

Happy Birthday My Little 1 Year Old

Where do I begin about my little Mia. She is such a joy in our lives. The kids adore her and she adores them. Everywhere we go, I have people stopping and commenting that she's smiling at them...and that's what she does, she is constantly catching peoples eyes and giving them the biggest smile.

She's very quiet. Sometimes I forget she's even in the room. But always happy.

I've really struggled seeing Mia get older. It makes me so sad with each new milestone she reaches. I really do want her to stay little forever. I want to hang onto her sweetness and her kissable chubby thighs, feet, and cheeks.

We love our little Mia and feel so blessed that she has come to our family.

I absolutely love this picture. Her little chin and nose, and her chubby cheeks...I just want to kiss them!

Mesa Family Photographer- Two Cute Redheads

I never realized the power of fruit snacks until this shoot. Little Braden wanted NOTHING to do with the camera. His parents warned me about his dislike of the camera and they were not kidding. He did a stupendous job of hiding behind a tree and not letting me seeing a glimpse of his little face. We played a few games around the tree and once he warmed up, gave him some fruit snacks and he did anything we wanted...pure magic! And what a cute smile!

My favorite part of the shoot was their outfits...it's not often you see families dressed up but I wish I saw more of it. They looked wonderful! Enjoy!

This is the cutest little family. I played soccer with Cassidy at the UofA. And I'm so happy that I've gotten to capture the special moments in her family's life. I've gotten to take her maternity pictures, newborn pictures, and now family pictures. It makes me so happy. And even though we don't see or talk to each other very often, everytime we do, I feel like we catch right up and are back up to date with each other.

Tucson Family Photographer: Five Guys and a Girl

We loaded up the car to head down to Tucson for a session of the cousins. They live very close to Saguaro National Monument, so it was a great location to take some pictures. I've always loved the mountains in Tucson and they made for a great backdrop!

Four boys...holy cow! But aren't they have the most handsome boys!?!?! Watch out ladies! It's always fun to take pictures of family and this was the first time I've gotten to take this family's pictures....hopefully there will be more sessions in the future...Enjoy!

I was lucky enough to be invited to Tyler's 1st birthday party to snap some pictures. The best part about the whole event was watching him devour his chocolate cupcake. Life doesn't get any better than eating every last crumb of your cupcake on your birthday!

I also got to shoot his 1 year old pictures. He was loving playing with all the rocks and dirt at the session location. And in true one year old fashion, Tyler humored us for about 20 minutes and then did his best to ignore everyone behind the camera the rest of the time. Love it! Enjoy!

He got the biggest smile on his face when he was asked to give kisses to his mom and dad or you could see the enjoyment on his face when mom and dad gave him kisses. I LOVE LOVE LOVE doing creative shoots. They are by far my favorite! Last year I was so excited with how my Dorothy creative shoot turned out. This year Avery entered into the world of Wonderland.

I know I'm biased because she's my daughter, but I think she looks SO beautiful and sweet in these pictures. I really wanted to expand on the Alice in Wonderland theme and doing painting the roses red...but I was stumped as to where to find some beautiful rose gardens in the Phx valley. Any ideas would be welcomed! :)

I've been so excited to share these photos. This was my very first wedding shoot! I have to admit that I was more nervous shooting this wedding than I was on my own wedding day! Baby Aidan

I got to meet little Aidan and his parents for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Aidan was 1 month old when I took his pictures. I was a little nervous about whether or not we would get him to stay asleep during the session since he was a little older. However, I have to say I have never been so impressed by the efforts his parents made in order to get to fall and stay asleep. They were so prepared when they came over with nature sounds, blankets, and every trick they had learned to get him to sleep.

I LOVE how these pictures turned out! I had some new props, which I was excited to use. But hats off to mom and dad for all their efforts in making sure that Aidan was a quiet and sleepy little subject to shoot!

Love, love, love these kids! I got to do this shoot in Prescott, AZ where everything was so nice and green and the weather was wonderfully cool...not something we'll see in the valley for the next few months.

Aidan and Parker were not too thrilled about having their pictures taken, but Emerson would have sat infront of the camera all day. She is so sweet I could eat her!

Little Makenzie is such a doll. She's usually a non-stop, on the go toddler. I fully expected to be chasing her around as I was snapping pictures. However, on the day of the photoshoot, she was quite reserved and not too sure about the lady with the camera. Luckily, she warmed up to me after numerous games of peek-a-boo!

Little Mason was such a sweet little baby and a joy to photograph. From the moment he arrived at my home he was wide awake and wouldn't go to sleep no matter what we tried. However, he was completely content as I moved him, changed his position, placed him in bowls, etc. My favorite part was the cute Jordan hat and socks that they wanted him pictured in....LOVE IT!

"There's something that happens when you live a long time...you get OLD!" These are the words of the cutest 90 year old man. I think there is something so special in taking pictures of brand new little babies and something even more special of taking pictures of loved ones who are coming near the end of their lives. The scars on the hands represent years of hard work and the wrinkles on the face are from numerous smiles that have been given.

I had to pick up Wayne from his house for the photoshoot. I had the biggest smile on my face as he came walking out in bib overalls, purple Halloween socks, and wearing a hat about being a grumpy man...which I don't think there is a grumpy bone in his body!

I was touched with emotion as I took his pictures. I really enjoyed editing them and I hope you enjoy them as well.

I have to say that this was probably one of the funnest photoshoots I've ever done, which says a lot considering my children are not usually thrilled about me taking their pictures. We just laughed the whole time! I love this little girl so much! But it makes me so sad to see how big she looks in these pictures...I want her to be little forever!

So it's been a LONG time since I've taken any pictures. The break was wonderful but now I have the motivation to snap some shots again. Of course once I decide I want to take some pictures, the weather doesn't want to cooperate. It was actually pretty fun doing some indoor shots of Little Miss Avery. Enjoy!

I was excited when another soccer buddy from the past wanted me to take her maternity and family pictures. It's so fun seeing great friends, especially when they are so cute and pregnant! I have to admit I was a little nervous when she told me they wanted pictures with their dogs. I really wasn't sure what to expect. But to my relief the dogs were better behaved than most children! It was a fun session!

I took Avery out the other day in her Halloween costume to do a creative photo shoot. I've only edited one picture but I love the way it turned out. I've decided I really want to start doing more creative shoots because it's so fun finding great places to take these types of pictures and then editing them! I hope you enjoy it. Now that we're in AZ, I've really wanted to start finding places to take some pictures. However, it's been tough since the kiddos haven't wanted to hardly get back into the car since the 1800 mile drive from KY, which I don't blame them.

I've really wanted to find some spanish style backgrounds. Here is the first place I've found. But after staring at the pictures for several hours, I'm not sure anymore if they really look spanish at all. Let me know what you think.
